CHINO, CA (August 20, 2024) -- On August 17, 2024, at approximately 12:52 a.m., the Chino Police Department received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 6600 block of Riverside Drive. Officers responded to the scene and located a male subject suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, Angel Godoy, 34, of Chino, was transported to a local hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition. 

Through their investigation, detectives determined that the shooting took place inside Godoy’s residence. The suspect was identified as Bernardo Cardenas, 21, of Chino. The investigation revealed that Godoy and Cardenas, who are brothers, had been involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into a shooting. 

Cardenas was located and arrested in Vista, California, and has since been booked at the West Valley Detention Center on charges of attempted murder.
