OEOI GLOBAL AFFAIRS WELCOMED GUANGZHOU DELEGATION

On Monday, August 5, representatives from the Office of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion met with a delegation from Guangzhou, headed by Vice Mayor Chen Jie.


The discussions focused on the potential for economic, trade, and educational cooperation between the two cities—including the possibility of Guangzhou setting up a Trade and Investment Office in Boston. This initiative promises to create new opportunities for collaboration in commerce, technology, healthcare, and education.

MAYOR WU ANNOUNCES WAKE UP THE NIGHT GRANT RECIPIENTS


On Friday, August 9, Mayor Michelle Wu and the Office of Nightlife Economy announced the 42 grant recipients of the City’s inaugural Wake Up the Night Grant, which awards individuals and organizations up to $10,000 in support of nighttime activations. This funding will support over 50 events spanning 13 neighborhoods from now through the end of the year. All events are free and open to the public.

DEADLINE APPROACHING FOR SECOND ROUND OF THE RE-FRESH PROGRAM


Last month, the Office of Small Business reopened the Re-FRESH Program application. The Program supports brick and mortar micro food businesses negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The deadline to apply to the Re-FRESH Program is Friday, September 13.
