City of Alhambra Launches Small Business Assistance Grant (SBAG) Program To Aid Local Businesses
The City of Alhambra has announced the newly created COVID-19 Small Business Assistance Grant (SBAG) Program to aid for-profit small businesses located within Alhambra. Approximately $150,000 in grants funds are available for the program.
Businesses with 25 employees or less (including the owners) are eligible for grant awards of $5,000 to offset costs incurred as a result of COVID-19. Businesses will be subject to eligibility requirements and if approved, grants can be used for the following types of expenses:
· Overhead expenses.
· Rent and utilities.
· Business services to increases capacity to carryout business activities including marketing and promotions.
· Payroll expenses including hiring bonuses (within limits).
· Business inventory and supplies including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
· Day-to-day expenses including maintenance, capital or equipment purchases for business operations
“The last two years have been very difficult financially for our small businesses,” said Mayor Jeff Maloney. “Funds from this program can help support local business owners to continue to rebuild and recover from the damage caused by the pandemic.”
The deadline to submit the application is 5:00 PM on April 14, 2022.

Annual Environmental Scholarship
Program Launched

Republic Services is partnering with the City of Alhambra to help high school students reach waste reducing goals within the City and become leaders in the three R’s; Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
As part of the effort to make recycling second nature to all City of Alhambra residents and Alhambra college-bound senior high school students, Republic Services is proud to announce the 2022 First Annual Environmental Scholarship Program.
Republic Services will award one (1) $1,000 scholarship to a City of Alhambra Resident student for the 2022 First Annual Environmental Scholarship Program. High School college- bound seniors living within the City of Alhambra are eligible.

Two Opportunities to Watch the
State of the City Address

Alhambra residents are invited to bring plastic bottles, aluminum cans, documents and electronic waste items to the Alhambra Recycles Event on Saturday, April 23, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Granada Park.
Please bring your own bag or container to fill up compost.
The first 150 participants will receive a voucher for Fosselman's Ice Cream.
No household hazardous waste will be collected at this event.

626 Golden Streets Set For May 1st

The 626 Golden Streets Mission-to-Mission presented by @MetroLosAngeles is coming to the SGV on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Five miles of roadway from South Pasadena to Alhambra to San Gabriel will be opened to the public to explore and play.

Home Improvement Assistance Program

If you want your home to be more energy efficient, and beat the summer heat, we can help. Through the Home Improvement Assistance Program, qualified homeowners can repair or replace things like heating and air conditioning, water heater, windows and doors, plumbing, and so much more. Homeowners who don’t qualify for the City’s program can learn about financing for energy efficient projects through the PACE program.

LA County Launches Guaranteed Income Program
Los Angeles County is launching the pilot program Breathe to provide its residents the chance to “breathe” easier knowing they are more financially secure. Breathe is a guaranteed income pilot project that will provide 1,000 eligible residents with $1,000 per month for three years.
To be eligible for this pilot project, you must meet all of these requirements:
•Be 18 years of age or older
•Live in a Los Angeles County neighborhood that falls at or below 100% of the County’s Area Median Household Income (AMI)
•Have a household income that falls at or below 100% of the County’s AMI, for a single person household, or have a household income that falls at or below 120% of the County’s AMI for households with two or more persons
•Have been negatively financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
•Not be currently enrolled in another Guaranteed Income project offered by the County, a city, or other public or private entity
•Note: Only one person will be eligible to participate in the project per household

The City of Alhambra's Residential Utility Assistance Grant Program provides financial assistance to low to moderate-income residents with an emphasis on those negatively impacted by COVID-19. This program offers a one-time grant of up to $500 to pay delinquent water bills on a first-come-first-served basis. Learn more.
