Camarillo, CA – David Sanchez joins the City of Camarillo team on January 16, 2024, as the Community Development Director.
In the extensive recruitment search to fill this position, David’s leadership experience and problem-solving skills made him the most desirable candidate to fill this critical role within the City’s leadership team.
“David demonstrates a willingness and ability to provide solutions, not only to project applicants, residents, and business owners, but also to City staff in an effort to effectively support operations,” City Manager Greg Ramirez shared.
Coupled with strong interpersonal skills, David’s technical experience relates closely to Camarillo’s needs. He is well-versed in working collaboratively with the State Department of Housing and Community Development when dealing with new housing laws. He has recent experience in zoning code amendments to allow for life science/biotech zoning and he values a strong partnership with Economic Development. David possesses a forward-thinking approach to communication and technology that will integrate well with the Goals and Objectives of the City Council. David puts a strong emphasis on community engagement in the planning process, placing value on listening and engaging with staff and the community to generate a positive outcome.
David brings over 20 years of professional planning and management experience to the City of Camarillo, most recently serving the City of Pasadena for almost 10 years, preceded by the City of Pomona. In addition to his public sector work, David’s experience includes three years of private sector project management work. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in International Development Studies.
