Camarillo, CA – The Camarillo City Council voted to introduce an Ordinance to amend Camarillo Municipal Code (CMC) Section 11.20.220 to further regulate the parking of oversized vehicles on certain City streets.
Restricting hours of parking of oversized vehicles on certain City streets promotes the safety of the public roadways for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians by eliminating impediments to visibility while driving. These restrictions support the general health and safety of the community, and those that use the streets and sidewalks, by removing oversized vehicles on certain City streets where their parking can cause impaired visibility for vehicles entering and exiting driveways. Additionally, these restrictions are intended to enhance the City’s business environment by largely eliminating parking of oversized vehicles in business areas during regular business hours.
The current Ordinance restricts the parking of any oversized vehicle between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Mondays through Fridays including holidays, upon any street within areas designated on the map approved with the current ordinance.
The proposed Ordinance includes additional residential, commercial, and industrial zones into the mapped area, and adjusts the hours of restricted oversized vehicle parking to between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Mondays through Fridays including holidays.
The Ordinance will be on the Council Agenda on January 10, 2024, for adoption and will go into effect on February 9, 2024. Prior to any enforcement of the Ordinance, the City will post signage as required by Vehicle Code section 22507 and provide ample information on the new parking restrictions to the community through the City’s various community channels.
