Camarillo, CA – Starting in October 2022, 100% clean and renewable energy from sources like the sun and wind will power homes and businesses in Camarillo.
On March 9, 2022, the Camarillo City Council voted 3-2 (Craven and Trembley dissenting) to change the community’s default energy product rate from the current Lean (40 percent) to Green (100 percent of renewable energy). The change, which is set to take place October 1, 2022, will reduce 173.5 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions annually, which is equivalent to planting 1.3 million trees or taking 16,917 cars off the road.
The City is moving forward with this energy change to help lower greenhouse gas emissions. As the City seeks ways to become more sustainable and resilient, moving to 100 percent Green Energy will allow Camarillo the opportunity to lower greenhouse gas emissions while still providing residents the choose how much to pay for their electricity.
Residents may stay with Clean Power Alliance (CPA) and purchase 100 percent renewable energy for their homes, or they have the option to opt out altogether and stay with Southern California Edison. Residents may also stay with CPA but choose a different product rate.
You have a choice! If you want to keep your bill what it currently is or learn more about other rate options, visit cleanpoweralliance.org/compare or call CPA at 888-585-3788 or email customerservice@cleanpoweralliance.org.
