Eastside Community Paseos Project: Haley Street Construction Underway

The Eastside Community Paseos Project is nearing completion, with ongoing construction on Haley Street. Some improvements that will be constructed include sidewalk repairs and access ramps to enhance accessibility along the Haley Street corridor as well as curb extensions and crosswalks at the intersections of Haley and Nopal Streets. Construction on the curb extensions is anticipated to be completed by the end of September 2024, while work on other features is expected to be finished by the end of November 2024.

Wastewater Bug Spotlight: Free-Swimming Ciliate


Free-swimming ciliates are some of the largest protozoan predators found under the microscope at the El Estero Water Resource Center. They are often used by City Laboratory and Operations staff to determine wastewater treatment efficacy; the presence of smaller free-swimming ciliates means that it is a healthy bug population!

Register for Summer Camp While You Can!


Summer camp is in full swing and there are still a few spots available in some of our most popular camps. Kids can explore topics including art, business, engineering, sports, theater, water safety, and more. Camps are available for children ages 4-17. Registration closes on Wednesday at 11:30 p.m. before the camp session starts.

Unclaimed Checks Deadline



Uncashed checks issued by the City to vendors and employees that are over three years old and exceed $15 will be voided and transferred to the City's General Fund on July 29. This policy aligns with Government Code Sections 50050 et seq. to handle unclaimed properties. If checks remain unclaimed for three years, they become the property of the City of Santa Barbara after due notice.

Public Lap Swim at Los Baños del Mar


The warm weather and longer days are a great excuse to start a new routine. Los Baños del Mar, Santa Barbara's only year-round public pool, is open for public lap swim seven days a week, with morning, midday, and evening options. The outdoor 50-meter pool is heated to a comfortable 80 degrees, and lifeguards are always on duty to ensure your safety.
