City Council Adopts the 2023-2031 Housing Element

On Tuesday December 12, 2023, the Santa Barbara City Council voted unanimously to adopt the City’s 2023-2031 Housing Element. The Housing Element is posted for public review and will be submitted December 21 to the State for final approval and certification.

Annual Rose Pruning Day Scheduled for January 13

The Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual Rose Pruning Day on Saturday, January 13, at Mission Historical Park. A January tradition for almost 40 years, volunteers are invited to spend the morning pruning the approximately 1-acre garden in preparation for spring growth. The Department is seeking up to 150 volunteers. All ages and skill levels are welcome, and rose pruning demonstrations will be provided.

Renew Your City Business License in January 2024

All City Business Tax Certificates (business licenses) expire on December 31, and are delinquent if unpaid by February 1, 2024. Business tax certificate applications, renewals, and payments are no longer accepted at the City Hall public counter and should be renewed online. If you have not received a renewal notice by December 15, 2023, please renew online or call (877) 779-7222 for assistance.
