CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY FOR FOLSOM 15-MINUTE LIGHT RAIL SERVICE

The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) has begun construction of the Folsom 15-Minute Light Rail Service Project. Upon the successful completion of the project in summer 2024, SacRT will introduce 15-minute service at all Folsom area stations, utilizing new state-of-the-art low-floor light rail trains.

In conjunction with the construction activities, road closures will be implemented. The northbound stretch of Folsom Boulevard, between Bidwell Street and Parkshore Drive, will experience lane closures. Glenn Drive will also be closed between Folsom Boulevard and Coolridge Drive.

PLANNING A RESILIENT AND RELIABLE WATER FUTURE

The City of Folsom is undertaking a planning effort to guide the management of the city’s water resources over the next 50 years. Currently, the city gets its drinking water almost exclusively from Folsom Reservoir. The Folsom Water Vision project will help the city evaluate other water supply alternatives to proactively plan for increased droughts, flood events, rising temperatures, and other challenges.

Understanding the community’s needs and priorities for water resource management is vital to the success of this planning effort. We invite you to attend the first in a series of public meetings to learn about the project and share your needs, interests, and goals for creating a resilient water future for the City of Folsom.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: ASSIST FOLSOM’S FIRST RESPONDERS

The Folsom Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteer program is vital to the City of Folsom’s goal to protect and advance community safety. Folsom CERT volunteers work closely with the Folsom Fire Department and are trained in basic first aid, light search and rescue, and firefighter rehab, among other disciplines. When large-scale incidents occur, CERT volunteers provide neighbor-helping-neighbor assistance before the arrival of firefighters, police, or other first responders. They also play an essential role in community safety and emergency preparedness and outreach.

The Folsom Fire Department is recruiting applicants for the spring CERT Basic Academy. Those who complete the required hybrid online and in-person training program, pass a background check, and interview with team leadership may be eligible to move on and join the team if so interested. The training course is offered free of charge; participants must be age 18 or older, and preference is given to applicants who live or work in Folsom. To register or to receive more information, visit academy.folsomcert.org.
