Reusable Tote Bag Giveaway
Soon the Farmers Market will be bursting with all the delights that come with the season: bouquets of locally grown flowers, ruffled rows of greens, bunches of root veggies, mounds of herbs, and the selection will continue to expand each weekend. The growing season is upon us, and to celebrate, we’re giving away FREE REUSABLE TOTE BAGS* to the first 500 shoppers to visit the Farmers Market Information Tent at 5th & Walnut on Saturday and Sunday, April 6-7!
Grab your tote bag and get busy filling it with locally grown and made items from the Farmers Market. More than 100 vendors will provide a diverse offering of produce and food products. You can expect familiar favorites like Pink Pony Farms (heirloom starter plants, native fruits, veg, eggs), Beautiful Day Farms (jams, jellies, sauces), Of The Earth Farm Distillery (spirits made from local produce), Beky Food (Venezuelan street food and desserts), and Ruby Jean’s Juicery (cold pressed juices) to name a few. New vendors will include Boundless KC (nutrient-dense microgreens), New Roots Hlu Thang (veggies, herbs, flowers), MO Mushrooms (fresh lions mane and oyster mushrooms and mushroom products), Bee KC (local honey and honey products), and many more. Additional vendors will likely join throughout the season to boot!
In addition to traditional vendors, River Market Flea will join the Farmers Market starting Sunday, April 7. After several successful popup events last fall and winter, shoppers can now browse a selection of popular vintage apparel and accessory vendors every Sunday through October. Art on Walnut will also return on Sundays beginning April 7; this rotation of local artists is curated by Art Garden KC.
*Limit one per customer.
Farmers Market hours are Saturdays and Sundays 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m beginning April 6.

Fresh Idea: Dye Eggs Nature's Way
|
Skip the artificial food coloring and try this easy egg dying project just in time for Easter fun! All you need are a few fresh ingredients and a bit of white vinegar to make beautifully dyed eggs this season. And the best part? You can get everything you need at City Market.
Here's how:
Bring 2 ½ cups of water in a medium sized sauce pan to a boil.
Add an ingredient from the guide below for your chosen color in the pan and reduce to simmer for 15 minutes, stirring every couple minutes.
Strain the liquid into a mason jar and add two or three tablespoons of vinegar. Let it cool to room temperature and gently drop hardboiled eggs in. The longer the egg soaks the deeper the color will be. 30 minutes works well for most colors, but you can soak up to two hours or even overnight depending on how dark you want your eggs. If you soak eggs longer than an hour, place them in the refrigerator. (Tip: use a combo of white and brown eggs for extra intensity and color variations.)
