The City Manager’s Weekly Update is published and distributed each week to inform the Council, City employees, and the public about current City activities and information.

Katie Lucchesi Appointed City Attorney

Congratulations to Katie Lucchesi on her appointment to the permanent City Attorney position. Katie joined the City as the Deputy City Attorney in December 2020, was promoted to Assistant City Attorney in March 2023, and has served as the Interim City Attorney since June 2023. She passed the Bar in 2014 and has 9 years as a public agency attorney.

Katie has proven her dedication to the City as the sole in-house attorney since June. Her capability to manage various and complex legal issues herself, or through managing outside counsel, has proven incredibly valuable in ensuring the City is moving forward with adequate protections. Despite the department being staffed to 1/3 of its budgeted legal expertise, the City has not missed a beat, which is a true testament to her talent and character. Lodi is in a great position and will be well represented by Ms. Lucchesi now and in the future.

Congratulations to our Employee of the Year!

Linda Tremble was chosen as Employee of the Year for her professionalism, the resounding level of respect held by all of her colleagues, and the stellar performance she provides to the City each and every day.  Linda embodies the truth that leadership is not earned by title but by the actions and character of an individual. During her 33 years of service to the City of Lodi, her leadership has shown in her work for multiple departments and in how she has touched the lives of all those around her. Linda’s skill set with customer service, high-level executive assistance, and her ability to maintain calm and multi-task during high-stress situations, truly sets her apart. Further, Linda possesses a wealth of knowledge that she is happy to share for the benefit of all, and she is the first person that anyone goes to with a question. Above all, she genuinely cares about every single person, whether she knows them on a personal or professional level.

This recognition is long overdue, and we are so excited to celebrate Linda for her consistent work performance and ongoing contributions to, not only the City Attorney and City Manager Departments that she currently serves, but to the City as a whole. Please join me in thanking and congratulating our 2022-2023 Employee of the Year – Linda Tremble!

Public Safety Trunk or Treat

A huge thank you goes out to Officer DeAnda for spearheading the unforgettable Public Safety Crew Trunk or Treat event for our community last night. Her dedication and hard work made this event a huge success!

We also want to thank our incredible community and those who hosted a trunk for turning out in such great numbers and celebrating the holiday with us!

As we approach Halloween, we wish you all a spooky yet safe celebration!

A special note from Officer DeAnda:

"I wanted to create an event to bring the community and the citizens of Lodi together. My primary goal for this event was to showcase all the businesses (big and small) that service the City of Lodi. All of our participants work together in some capacity on a daily basis to make our city special! We support each other and this event is proof of that! I am humbled after seeing the success of this event and am proud to be a part of this community!

I would like to thank all of those who participated, decorated trucks/trunks, and also those behind the scenes, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Walmart, Target, Food 4 Less, Rancho San Miguel, CVS, Safeway, and Borchardt Elementary School for candy donations. Without you, this event would not have been possible!

Special thank you to:

  • California Fastpitch Tournaments of Lodi for sponsoring the KAT Country 103 booth and DJ Walker In The Morning for bringing the fun and good music!!
  • Erica Diaz for the amazing balloon backdrop
  • David Roman for providing the digital Photo Booth!
  • Jordan and Trisha Kranich for the LPD photo frame
  • Lodi PD family for all the support and help along the way!"

Sandhill Crane Festival Conservation Award Recipient

Lodi Sandhill Crane Association has selected Trevor Carlson as the recipient of its 2023 Sandhill Crane Festival Conservation Award. The award will be presented at the opening reception for this year’s Festival on Friday, November 3rd, at Lodi’s Hutchins Street Square.

Growing up hunting with his brothers, cousins and uncles, Trevor Carlson developed a close relationship with the outdoors. Born and raised in Stockton, he graduated from St. Mary’s High School. After attending the University of San Diego, Trevor returned home where he worked, and learned, under the mentorship of his grandfather, Dino Cortopassi, creator of the 750-acre Black Hole Habitat and co- founder, with wife Joan, of the Wetlands Preservation Foundation.

Now Trevor finds himself responsible for managing the people, habitats and farming interests that comprise and sustain part of Cortopassi’s rich legacy. He notes that, “Individuals and organizations can play a role in ensuring a healthy Delta environment for future generations of people ... and wildlife. All of us must work together to continue to educate the public and to inform decision makers.

Following the Friday reception, Lodi Sandhill Crane Festival activities take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, November 4th and 5th, and are free and open to the public.
