Annual Hydrant Flushing Program in Effect


The City of Thorold's fire hydrant flushing program occurs annually every spring to ensure hydrants operate correctly and to help maintain good water quality. As part of the yearly program, City Staff will turn on hydrants to circulate water in City water mains. This action may lead to minor changes in water consistency and pressure. Lock 7 Viewing Centre is open


The City of Thorold’s renowned Lock 7 Viewing Centre opened on May 18 for the season. Situated at 50 Chapel Street S., the Viewing Centre welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm., May 18 to October 14. To view the St. Lawrence Seaway ship schedule, click below >>>

All aboard Bridge-it!


The City officially opened the ferry service in Port Robinson for the season on May 18. As the only ferry service on the Welland canal, Bridge-it offers local residents, visitors and cyclists direct transportation between the east and west sides of Port Robinson in Thorold. Ribbon Cutting at Cooper Equipment Rentals



Mayor Terry Ugulini, City and Regional Councillors along with Cooper Equipment Rentals staff celebrated their grand opening with a ribbon cutting.

Grand Opening of Art Gallery



Mayor Ugulini, Councillors DeDivitiis and O'Hare along with BIA Chair Serge Carpino welcomed the White Galleon Gallery at their Grand Opening in Downtown Thorold with a certificate presentation.

Thorold BIA wins Award



The Thorold BIA won the OBIAA (Ontario BIA Association) Jan Hawley Memorial Pinnacle Award in honour of the legacy of Nick Dell'Omo for all the work he did in Downtown Thorold. Serge Carpino, Chair of the Thorold BIA and City Councillor Mike De Divitiis (board member of the BIA) attended the Award Gala to accept the award.

Martha Cartmell is honoured at Lakeview Cemetery

 

Mayor Ugulini attended a ceremony honouring Martha Cartmell, a Thorold native. In 1884, Cartmell, with support from the Methodist Church in Hamilton, founded a prestigious Christian girls' school in Tokyo, Japan called Tōyō Eiwa Jogakuin. Fifteen distinguished alumnae of the school visited Lakeview Cemetery, where they proudly viewed 60 cherry trees donated by their alumni association in 2013 to honour Cartmell. These trees were planted near her family home, ensuring her legacy endures.

Mountainview Building Group sponsors Lemon Aid Day


The 3rd annual Mountainview LemonAID Day for FACS Niagara will be on Saturday, June 8, 2024. The sales of lemonade will help send kids to camp. Let's make this summer a little sweeter for kids served by FACS Niagara. To find out how you can donate or register a booth, click below >>>

Smile Cookie Day

City Councillors De Divitiis and O’Hare with CAO Manoj Dilwaria, Dunkin the River Lion along with staff from Alzheimer Society of Niagara and Autism Ontario South Region decorated Smile Cookies. They were assisted by Shawn Petlichkov, owner of the Ormond Street Tim Hortons.

For every Smile Cookie purchased the proceeds go directly towards Alzheimer Society Niagara Region and Autism Ontario South Region. It was a fun way to spread joy and make a positive impact.

Supporting McHappy Days



City Staff came together to enjoy lunch and show support by dining during McHappy Days with proceeds going to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMCH).

Registration for City of Thorold swimming lessons tailored to all ages and skill levels through the Canadian Lifesaving program, is open.
