Mayor Angelo Castillo Invites You


Water Safety Day - This Saturday

The City of Pembroke Pines Recreation, Fire and Police Departments is hosting a special Water Safety Day this Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 10 am to Noon at the Academic Village Pool, located at 17191 Sheridan Street. Everyone is invited to “Be Cool in the Pool” – a day filled with free water related activities, giveaways, a live DJ and food. There will also be demonstrations on how to be safe in the water and many other important safety tips, as well as some special guests for Star Wars fans who are aware it’s also “May the Fourth Be With You” day. Free for all ages. Participants are asked to bring their own swimwear and towels. For more information, please call 954-392-2116.

Commission Meeting

Beginning at 5:30 pm tonight, May 1, the City of Pembroke Pines Commission Meeting will be held in Commission Chambers, located at 601 City Center Way. Public interviews of potential applicants for the appointment of an interim Commissioner for District 4 to serve until the Special Election in November will be held. The meeting can be viewed in person, and via Channel 78 on Comcast, the city website at www.ppines.com or the city's YouTube channel.

The City of Pembroke Pines is hosting the 9th Annual Mayor’s Chess Challenge on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 9 am to 11 am at the Pembroke Lakes Golf Club 19 Restaurant, located at 10500 Taft Street. This chess challenge, held throughout Broward County, is part of a free and friendly series of chess meet-ups in over 19 different cities to draw attention to the benefits of chess in both the academic environment and throughout the community while supporting Scholastic Chess. Players of all ages and skill levels are welcome to participate in a morning of fun and games. Those in attendance will be able to play chess against elected officials and community leaders. This is a free event in support of scholastic chess. There will be a no stress rookie section for anyone who wants to have fun, make friends, and get better at chess. Registration Open for Summer Camps

Join the City of Pembroke Pines this Summer for a variety of fun summer camps for children ages 6 and up. The sessions for the Art & Drama Camp are now full, however, there is also a Summer Soccer Camp, and Tennis Camp, and a Summer Golf School. Registration is also now open for the Early Learning Development Center Summer Camps -- these are held at the West and Central Campuses. For information on the West Campus Summer Camp, please call 954-443-4816 and for Central Campus, please call 954-322-3350.

May Savor the Sounds - Save the Date: Join us on Sunday, May 19 for Savor the Sounds, featuring the Debbie Orta Band from 4-6pm. The Live artist for May will be Jill Lefkowitz. Savor the Sounds is a fusion of live music, art, and food. This event is free and perfect for all ages. There is plenty of room on the Plaza, located at 601 City Center Way, to set up lawn chairs, spread a blanket and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with outdoor music and delicious snacks food. There are also fun lawn games such as Giant Jenga, Dominoes, Corn Hole and Connect 4 for all ages. Just a reminder, please, no dogs are allowed, and all concerts are held weather permitting. Make sure to bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and friends!
