Nearly 10 Town Hall Meetings, entitled "Blueprint for the future of Pembroke Pines," have already been held throughout the city, with a few more scheduled. If you haven't yet attended one or watched the livestream from the May 8 meeting held in Commission Chambers on the City's YouTube channel, Mayor Angelo Castillo invites you to attend the following:

Over 100 indoor vendors featuring an array of treasures will be available for shoppers at the Flea Market and Bazaar being held at the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center, located at 301 NW 103 Ave. on Saturday, May 18 from 8 am to 3 pm and on Sunday, May 19, from 9 am to 3 pm. Beginning at 5:30 pm tonight, May 15, the City of Pembroke Pines Commission Meeting will be held in Commission Chambers, located at 601 City Center Way. The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm with the Public Vote for Interim Commissioner District 4, followed by the Regular Commission Meeting. The meeting can be viewed in person, and via Channel 78 on Comcast, the city website at www.ppines.com or the city's YouTube channel. | |

All across the country, including here in Pembroke Pines, children of all ages will be celebrating the 14th Annual National Kids to Parks Day on Saturday, May 18 with free and fun activities at several park locations from 9 am to noon. Free Tennis Clinics are being held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Pembroke Lakes Tennis Center, located at 10500 Taft Street (954-431-4146). There will be free swimming from noon to 6 p.m. at the following locations: Pembroke Lakes Pool, 10500 Taft Street, (954-435-6580); TownGate Pool, 901 NW 155th Avenue, (954-450-6895); and Rose Price Park, 901 NW 208th Avenue, (954-437-1140). Kids to Parks Day is a nationwide day of outdoor play organized by the National Park Trust (NPT) in cooperation with many local and national collaborators.
The City of Pembroke Pines and the NPT encourage all children and their families to explore neighborhood parks and discover the nature and science around them. Join us on Sunday, May 19 for Savor the Sounds, featuring the Debbie Orta Band (Jazz) from 4-6 pm. The Live artist for May will be Jill Lefkowitz. Savor the Sounds is a fusion of live music, art, and food. This event is free and perfect for all ages. There is plenty of room on the Plaza, located at 601 City Center Way, to set up lawn chairs, spread a blanket and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with outdoor music and delicious snacks food. There are also fun lawn games such as Giant Jenga, Dominoes, Corn Hole and Connect 4 for all ages. Just a reminder, please, no dogs are allowed, and all concerts are held weather permitting. Make sure to bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and friends! | |
The City of Pembroke Pines welcomes everyone to a Memorial Day Observance to honor the soldiers who sacrificed their life fighting for our country. There will be a special ceremony held on Monday, May 27, 2024 beginning at 9 AM, at Donnith H. Fletcher Park, located at 7900 Johnson Street. The City of Pembroke Pines Annual Memorial Day Ceremony honors our country’s men and women who have died serving in the U.S. military. All are welcome to attend. The Pembroke Pines Police and Fire Honor Guard will present colors, and veterans, city and community leaders, as well as special guests will join together to pay tribute and take part in a wreath placing ceremony. If unable to attend, there will be a live feed tribute on the City of Pembroke Pines Facebook page and it will be posted on the City’s YouTube Channel under Pembroke Pines Media. The City of Pembroke Pines, in partnership with Clean Harbors Environmental Services, provides household hazardous waste drop off events for residents on a quarterly basis. The next event, located at the City’s wastewater treatment plant located at 13975 Pembroke Road, will take place on June 1, 2024. Hours of operation are 8 am to 2 pm.
Residents must bring proof of Pembroke Pines residency to use the drop off services. For a list of acceptable and non-acceptable items, please visit www.ppines.com under the Public Services “Sanitation and Recycling” link.
