About 80 runners braved the hills, the fallen trees, the rocks this past Thursday August 11, 2011 for A Midsummer Night's Trail Run in Mount Airy Forest. Weather for the Thursday night trail run was almost perfect with no humidity. Nobody got lost on the trail that we know about. Mischa McCormick repeated as men's winner with a time of 31:43, and Grace Kelly was the top female with a time of 40:23. Our Top Male Master runner was Greg McCormick who finished 4th overall with a time of 35:29 and the top master female was Valerie Barbour with a time of 46:46. Thank you to all who came out and the sponsors and volunteers to enable the club to put on a successful trail run.

About 175 runners and walkers flocked to Northern Kentucky University for the 17th Annual Brian Rohne Memorial Run / Walk (View Photos). It was raining in several areas around the Greater Cincinnati area except for Highlands Heights KY. The overcast skies allowed some fast times to be run as the first 35 finishers were under 17:40. Congratulations to overall men's winner Adam Gloyeske and overall women's winner Kayla Justice. Adam ran a time of 15:53 and Kayla ran a time of 19:36. Congratulations to both.
The Brian Rohne Memorial 5K is held each year in honor of former NKU cross country runner Brian Rohne, who was killed by an automobile in January of 1993 while on a training run on the AA Highway in Cold Spring, Ky. During the 1992 fall season, Rohne had earned most valuable runner honors for NKU after being named All-Great Lakes Valley Conference. |

Berkeley Lab has designed a transcontinental virtual trip across the United States. Each time you enter your mileage of either running, walking or cycling, they add it to your total and show you exactly what you would see if you had been traveling on the TransAmerica Trail from Yorktown, Virginia to Florence, Oregon. They also provide maps that show your progress and the progress of your friends if they have an account. If you wish, you can form teams to race across the United States. You can check it out at http://exercise.lbl.gov/index.html.
