Churches Serve in Helena, Vilonia
More than 25 CBFAR partner churches served in Helena and Vilonia, Arkansas, this summer. Two Texas churches repaired homes in Vilonia, which suffered severe tornado damage earlier this year, while more than 20 churches served with Together for Hope Arkansas as part of the All Church Challenge, summer literacy programming, and annual back-to-school supply drive.

These churches continue to donate time, talents, and resources to these two areas in our state. Because of your generosity, CBFAR has raised nearly $10,000 for tornado victims and nearly 300 children were served through TFHAR programming this summer. Read more about each effort below.

All Church Challenge

The 2014 All Church Challenge brought together more than 200 volunteers from outside churches and 75 local volunteers to provide two weeks of swim camp, preschool camp, literacy camp, and construction projects throughout Phillips County. The ACC served nearly 300 children across Phillips County in Helena, Lakeview and Elaine. The ACC is an annual event organized by Together for Hope Arkansas in partnership with the city of Helena-West Helena, several local organizations, and CBF partner churches.

CBFAR Partners with Texas Churches to Rebuild Vilonia

Twenty-seven members from Mimosa Lane Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas spent the week of July 21 helping four families rebuild parts of their homes in Vilonia.

Sam and Gloria Pendyala led the Texas team. The work was coordinated through several partners including: Texas Baptists Disaster response coordinators Marla Bearden and Gerald Davis; Vilonia Disaster response coordinator Sandy Towles, project coordinator Jerry Carroll; and Ray Higgins, CBF AR coordinator. The church helped three families fix their mobile homes and one family repair their barn and work on rebuilding their home.

In August, Joe Fuller, a member of The Heights Church in Richardson, Texas, spent a week in Vilonia helping rebuild a family's home that was blown off of its foundation three years ago and in this last tornado.  The owner's husband had died in between the tornados. Learn more about CBFAR Disaster Response.

Thank you for supporting CBF Arkansas, Together for Hope Arkansas, and being the presence of Christ throughout our state.
