The holiday hustle and bustle is upon us. From shopping to decorating to baking to those amazing Christmas enthusiasts who already have their presents wrapped and tied with bows (not me), we are hustling! Amidst the busy, there is delight and joy that comes with the holidays. I smile just thinking about lights dangling and twinkling from roof lines and trees lit up like beacons of hope. This time of year bolsters holiday traditions and embraces wide-eyed wonder that lives in the hearts of the boys and girls in our neighborhoods.
All that to say, Christmas time is special.
The Elkhorn Chamber has many holiday traditions. Traditions shared by staff, chamber partners, and the entire Elkhorn community. We have had to solemnly say "till next year" to a few of our celebratory events. But what 2020 has not taken away, is our ability to bob and weave through the punches, and come out with our hand raised in victory when the Christmas Bells ring!
This coming Friday, December 4th, we will welcome Elkhorn natives and the surrounding areas for holiday fun and festivities. We will kick-off the weekend with a hometown favorite, the 39th Annual Tree Lighting ceremony. Help us usher in Santa with a community sing-a-long as he and his two elf helpers come to light our recently planted white spruce, located in Veterans Park.
In lieu of Cookies with Santa, we will follow the man in red to the Walworth County Fairgrounds for the debut event, Let It Glow!
Let It Glow, co-hosted by the United Way of Walworth County, Walworth County Food & Diaper Bank, and the Elkhorn Chamber will be open from 7pm-9pm as a drive-thru festival with lit displays and a Santa Finale at the North Pole Express. What more could those wide-eyed littles ask for? An encore?
YOU GOT IT!
December 5th at 1:30pm, the 39th Annual Christmas Card Town Parade will roll through town. The parade route offers up 10 blocks of viewing for our guests, providing plenty of curbside seating for proper social distancing.
Preparing for two full days of holiday festivities has us hustling and bustling here at the Elkhorn Chamber. We may not be baking cookies, but we are excited to share with you all that we have planned. We look forward to seeing you downtown Elkhorn to celebrate the holiday season and to be reminded of how special Christmas truly is!
