Christmas at Minnie’s

What does December mean to you?

For us, it’s a time of reflection. A season for giving. And an opportunity to spread some holiday cheer!

This year has has been a great one for our organization. We have had the opportunity to serve over 5,000 individuals new to Minnie’s Food Pantry. Our gala included keynote speaker and media mogul, Oprah Winfrey. We had a record breaking Thanksgiving giveaway as we served more turkeys than any year before. Minnie’s Resale Boutique celebrated its one year anniversary. A new phone system was donated by Mitel! And we have been working on some exciting things to be coming in 2019.

And now we are here, the last stretch of 2018. And although everyday is like Christmas at Minnie’s Food Pantry, we especially love the holiday season as we get the opportunity to participate in serving some people very dear to our hearts...

Each year Minnie’s Food Pantry hosts a holiday luncheon for our senior citizens that we deliver to on a monthly basis. We provide them with a warm meal, food for their homes, and gifts as a token of appreciation, gratitude and love for those who have come before us! This particular group consists of 85 warm hearted individuals, many of which live on a fixed income averaging $6,000 PER YEAR.

Many of you have already selected seniors to adopt from our Minnie's Blessings Holiday Tree but some still remain. The majority of items on their wishlists consist of: warm slippers, pajamas, pillows and pillow cases, warm blankets, non-slick frying pans and digital clock radios.
