College Take Another Step Toward Zero Waste

ESF adopted its Zero Waste & Circularity Policy, which expands the informal zero waste goals set by the College in 2019 and builds upon existing policies. The Zero Waste and Circularity Policy applies to all operations across ESF campuses, properties, and field stations, including food service and retail operations and sets measurable and achievable zero waste and circularity goals, procedures for the management and diversion of materials, and expectations for monitoring and reporting.

The policy was the last step ESF needed to complete its TRUE precertification submission. TRUE is a third-party rating system that verifies actionable steps are being taken and progress is being made in attaining zero-waste goals. If awarded TRUE precertification, ESF will be the first college in the country to achieve this designation as a "portfolio" project meaning that the entire Syracuse will be awarded the designation, not just a single building, as is typical.

ESF News will not be published the week of Dec. 25.

ESF News will kick off a new year in your inboxes Jan. 3, 2024.
