As the pickup drove by,
the man inside stared at Beth and me while we stood outside the abortion center.
I watched him turn the corner down the street and continue staring at us.
Then his pickup truck came back around the corner and stopped some distance from our location.
I warned Beth that he might be an angry man and to keep an eye on him as he jumped out of his car and briskly approached us.
About thirty feet from me he said, "Are you Don?"
I cautiously said, "Yes."
"I'm Jorge and I just wanted to thank you for saving my two children" . . . as he stuck out his hand to shake my hand instead of shaking my neck.
Jorge went on to tell me that he left his gang, got a job and is a changed man...
all because of the birth of his son, pictured above.
He went on to tell me that when his second child was born last week, he couldn't help but think that had he aborted his son, most likely he would have aborted his second child.
He asked me if I remembered him last year at the abortion center and I said yes.
I remembered him as a dirty-mouthed guy who was agitated that we were trying to talk him out of an abortion when his life was such a mess. At that time, I had taken him over to the Pregnancy Resource Center where the ladies there stepped up to give Jorge and his wife more help and direction.
Now cleaned up, he couldn't stop thanking me for helping him change his mind.
My wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told her that Jorge showed up to give me the greatest Christmas gift ever and I don't need anything else for Christmas.
I just wanted to share this gift and living reminder with those of you who stand with me in this ministry. There are over four thousand
rescued newborns to adults who have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas ... And that's not counting the siblings who followed after them.
