Guess What's Growing! July 13, 2021
7 miles of Mums! That's what's growing now for this Fall! How pretty they will be!

But what I really wanted to tell you is that right now, in the heat of July, we start growing Poinsettias! 4,000 poinsettias are being planted as I write this week's e-news. "We want to offer our customers the nicest looking, healthiest of plants so they can enjoy them for a long time." says JP, Owner. Countryside Home Grown plants are responsibly grown - not just our vegetable plants, annuals, and hanging baskets, but our mums and poinsettias too! Click here to learn more about what the Countryside Home Grown brand means.

Our Christmas Theme Trees and Displays are being mapped out as shipments of beautiful Christmas decor arrive daily! Now is the time you'll see all our cashiers checking in and pricing Christmas. Summer is a glitter-fest for all of us. We go home sparkling this time of year!

Be sure to keep watch when the actual season gets closer as we hope to once again, host our Holiday Open House with fun activities for the whole family!

Until then, go plant something! Our annuals are on sale right in time for you to spruce up your gardens and enter them in the Northwest Herald's Best Home Garden In McHenry County Contest! Click here to enter your garden TODAY through July 28! Countryside is the contest sponsor and one lucky winner will receive a $200 Gift Card to Countryside!

Hydrangea are in full bloom right now and we have quite the selection to choose from - but they don't follow my Christmas in July theme very well so I wanted to point out a couple other shrubs to think about for winter interest...
Berri-Magic® Royalty Holly - A combination female holly and a male pollinator that guarantees bright red berries for fall and winter interest!

Artic Fire Red Twig Dogwood - Intense red stems stand out against the winter snow!
July is for Perennials!
It's the perfect time to choose perennials for your gardens. Stop in and see them in full bloom. Choose from every color of the rainbow, interesting textures and wonderful scents!
Perennials perfect for a cut garden.
Perennials that hummingbirds and butterflies love.
Perennials native to our area.

Watch for Pam's Perennial of the Week all month long! This week's featured perennial is Calamintha nepeta.

You'll find her introduction on the Events or Advice page of our website, our Facebook page or YouTube Channel every Thursday at 10 a.m.
