Gospel in Focus
December 31, 2023 The Lord fulfills His promise to Simeon to see the Messiah when Jesus is presented at the temple. “Behold, this child is destined for the fall
and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted (and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” —Luke 2:34-35
Discussion Questions
Place yourself in Mary’s shoes. How do you think she feels upon hearing the words of Simeon? What is Joseph’s reaction?
Share a time when something you waited for finally came. How did it feel? How do you think Simeon felt?
What do you think of when you hear the word “promise?” What are the Lord’s promises to you?
