Prayer Warriors Wanted

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. James 5:16

"Prayer is of transcendent importance. Prayer is the mightiest agent to advance God's work. Only praying hearts and hands can do God's work. Prayer succeeds when all else fails." EM Bounds

EM Bounds was trained as an attorney, an advocate for the law, until God called him to the ministry to be an advocate for grace. Bounds is known today, one hundred and six years after his death, because he wrote nine books on prayer. Each book is filled with appeals to pray about every detail of our lives -- and for the needs of the people God brings into our lives.

Every week we invite those who worship with us to tell us how we can pray for them. Prayer requests can be submitted on cards found in the pews, by e-mail, or phone. Each prayer request goes in a weekly prayer sheet for all our officers, church staff, and volunteer church members who minister to the congregation through their prayers.

If you would like to join our congregational prayer ministry as a volunteer, please send a note to prayer@christcovenant.org and let us know. There are no meetings to attend, no limits on where or when you might pray, no age requirement, and no secret handshake. You do have to honor confidentiality that covers all prayer requests and have confidence in God's promise to hear the prayers of his children. You will have the privilege of growing in faith as you watch God respond!

RTS Paideia Center Book Discussion
In partnership with the RTS Paideia Center for Theological Discipleship, Christ Covenant is hosting a theological reading group this Fall. Do you desire a rich theological diet so you can develop maturity in Christ? Do you want to read Christian classics but don't know where to start? Would you like to grow with people who share your love for theology and learn from those who have gone before you? If so, register at http://paideiacenter.com/. In the Fall, we will read a book
from the early church and one from the Reformation era in the Spring. The theme for this year's readings is "soul care." This Fall's group will meet three times (September 11, October
9, November 13) from 7:00-8:30pm with a guided discussion of Gregory the Great's The Book of Pastoral Rule.

RTS Students Need Housing
Reformed Theological Seminary's student body is growing! We are currently searching for housing options for new students as they move to Charlotte. If you have an above-garage apartment, a spare room, or a rental property, would you prayerfully consider renting to a seminary student? Helping house our students is a wonderful way to partner with RTS as we train our students for ministry. For more information, please contact Katy McIlvaine in the RTS admissions office: kmcilvaine@rts.edu or 704-688-4220.
