Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States, and is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery. To recognize this important day in our country’s history, several events have been planned throughout the North Shore including a celebration in Skokie (6/15), a parade in Evanston (6/19), and an important discussion, A Legacy of Hope and Allyship, at the Illinois Holocaust Museum (6/19).
