Pre Race Briefing

Welcome CMTR Runners!

First, thank you for choosing the Cheyenne Mountain Trail Race as one of your races for the 2011 season.  I know there are a bazillion races to choose from, and I am genuinely honored that you chose to run with us.  Our goal from the beginning has been to bring you a high quality race while remaining organic and staying true to the trail running spirit.  For me, trail running is a spiritual experience.  There is something about going on a long run in the wee hours of the morning that brings a sense of contentment to my heart.  The energetic connection that takes place out on the trail is what keeps me plugging along in this materialistic world.  Me, my sneakers, some peanut butter and jelly, and water and all of my needs are pretty much taken care of.  It puts a lot into perspective for me.  Putting together a race has been somewhat of an experiment in economics!  The complete opposite of what we runners find out on the trail.  However, I have come to terms with this dichotomy because a race requires some outside assistance-like permits and aid stations.  And I am quite all right with this.  So, to move forward in trail running fashion, one foot in front of the other, here is the down and dirty of what you need to know for race day.

Entry into the Park:

A volunteer will be stationed at the entry checking participant's names off of the master list.  Epic Endurance Events is PAYING the park for your entry.  If you have a park pass on your vehicle, please still check in and let the volunteer mark it on the paperwork.  The fee covers spectators in the vehicle with you as well. There are several large lots at the start/finish line but space may be limited so we encourage carpooling wherever possible.  It's just nice to Mother Earth, too.

Roads into the parking lot will be closed from just before race start, approximately 7:45 until all racers have cleared the course-around 9am.  Sponsors and partners, including the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo will have booths set up starting at 9:30 for spectator enjoyment.
