CherryArts is delighted to reveal this year's featured artist Mami Yamamoto for the 2024

Cherry Creek Arts Festival commemorative poster! This beautiful artwork, titled "We All Listen To His Blah, Blah, Blah," is a striking monoprint that exemplifies her unique artistic vision.

As "mono" indicates, this print is one of a kind. Using oil-based ink on plexiglass, Mami employs a variety of techniques including free drawings, chin colle, collagraph, and stenciling to craft her complex designs. Each finished design is printed through an etching press, with Mami precisely layering colors and designs until the finished work translates Mami’s vision.

Featured Artist: Mami Yamamoto

“Growing up in Japan, distinguished sensibilities deeply rooted in culture, may almost be a prerequisite for its people. In every aspect of my young life, I was surrounded by both an old and new aesthetic, many of which could simply be considered customs or rituals.” Mami Yamamoto is a printmaker based in Englewood, CO.

"Each artifact I have encountered and collected possesses unique beauty, based on the choice of materials and execution to become functional. In those everyday objects, I often find the most sincere and genuine beauty. I am choosing a similar path to create something intangible in my own life. Every element of our lives is superimposed and layered with other matters and elements. Endless variations of pigments, complex textures and organic forms and shapes are all my intended forms of expression."
