We have been very lucky the last two Wednesdays.  Both days,
the  forecast included the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, hail
and flooding.  None of these occurred.  Massachusetts farmers have
been blessed  with substantial rain, much if it occurring at night.

Not so lucky, are the farmers in California, who have had to cut back
on the crops they grow due to lack of moisture.  Shortages of favorite crops has had an impact on availability and price.  Restaurant chefs
and home cooks have started making changes to reduce water use.

In her informative article for  New York Times, " California's Drought Changes Habits  in  the Kitchen ",  writer  Kim Severson quoted Suzanne Goin, who runs four  restaurants in Los Angeles, saying, "I boiled some beets at home last night at home,  and poured the water onto my tree."
The simple changes described in the article are useful for all of us.

Laszlo Family Farm has been with us weekly with their Sitzens Pet Treats and beautiful Navajo-Churro pelts.  Starting this week, you will be able to purchase lamb meat.  Virginia has this to say about the breed,
" Navajo-churro lamb is on Slow Food's Ark of Taste as an important heritage food in need of saving!  Lean and sweet, the taste of Navajo-churro is mild in comparison to larger commercialized breeds.
The Navajo-churro is a multi-purpose breed, used by the Navajo people for wool, meat and milk.  The cuts are smaller in size due to the small stature of the breed.  Navajo-churro meat is capable of converting the non-lamb eater in your life!

We have lamb, mutton, leg of lamb, rib chops, shoulder chops, stew meat, shank, and other various cuts.  Our churros free range graze and browse the entirety of our farm, and we supplement their diet with locally produced hay.  In winter and prior to lambing, our churro's diet is supplemented with grains produced by Bob Crowe at Inverness Farm, NY.

Always antibiotic and chemical free!  We love our churros at Laszlo Family Farm and are excited to share this local product with you!"
