However, if you are planning a holiday party or a wedding during this festive season, consider upgrading your linens to really create that WOW factor for your guests that will leave them talking about your event's details for years to come. Textured, pattern, sequinned and glitter fabrics can add that extra touch that shines through both in person and in the photographs that you will treasure.

DIRECTOR'S CORNER

Let's Talk Bar Packages!

image by Vow & Forever Photography

It is a hot topic, especially this time of year - what package is being served at the bar? Is it spiked hot cider, a coffee bar, or a full open bar? It can be all three! What is a bar package and what types of bar packages does The Sycamore serve?

A misconception about Bar Packages is that all bar packages include alcohol, when in fact they do not. Generally, the term 'bar package' is when the host of the party or event pays for drinks at a price per person/guest. Packages can range from soda only, to beer and wine only, to everything included.

The Sycamore at Mallow Run does not require events to purchase a bar package. Events can choose to serve only water, lemonade, iced tea and/or coffee. Since most events decide on providing a bar package, let's unwrap all there is to know about the bar packages at The Sycamore!

Cash Bar
Guests pay for their drinks, both alcohol and non-alcoholic. The phrase "Cash Bar" simply means that guests purchase their own beverages - we accept both cash and card at the Sycamore bar! The event host pays a fee to set up the bar as well as an additional minimum fee for the bartenders to work the event (fees are based on the overall event guest count).

Hosted Bar
The event host pays for a predetermined amount of drinks or a certain amount of time for the bar to be open (i.e. three hours). The event host has several options to include on the hosted bar, and it could be wine only, beer only, or beer and wine. (The term 'soft bar' is often used when the bar includes only beer and wine without the option of 'hard liquor or spirits.') The event host also has the option of choosing to have guests to pay for their cocktails and liquor, while all beer and wine are free to guests. All bar packages at The Sycamore includes non-alcoholic drinks such as soda and juice for guests at no additional charge.

Open Bar
The event host pays the price per person for all drinks that includes beer, wine, and liquor. The Sycamore at Mallow Run offers a standard package and a premium package.

VENDOR SPOTLIGHT

Vendors you didn't know you needed!

If you have followed the Sycamore newsletters throughout the year, you know we have covered and highlighted almost every aspect of the process of planning a successful wedding. So as we 'wine' down to the end of the year, let's touch base on some of the Vendors that are essential to an event and possibly some you did not know you even needed. With that, grab your favorite bottle of Mallow Run Wine, pour a glass and continue with the preparations for your upcoming wedding.

PAPER
Since the early 1920's, the traditional first wedding anniversary gift is supposed to be paper. The question comes to mind, what can you give as a gift that consists of paper? It could be a book; it could be a ticket to a concert or movie, or a personalized note or poem. Paper is a tangible object that can be one of the most customized items. Some vendors work with paper that can help make your event go from bland to grand.

The invitation is the first impression of your event. The paper you select, and its design can impact your guests so much so that they choose to display the invitation to your wedding. The paper on which you write your vows should be something you want to keep forever. The paper you choose for your programs, your favors, menu cards, place cards, and seating assignments, can all have an overall beautiful impact on your event and elevate the overall guest experience. Let the experts who work with the paper guide you in the right direction. Often time, there is not an increase in price but an increase in impact on the overall event.

PHOTOBOOTH
Not every guest will be in the photos taken by the photographer. Having a photo booth, be it a pop-up booth, a photo kiosk, or an actual old-time photo booth, adds an element of entertainment to your event. It also can provide the guests with an event souvenir. Many photo booths have the option of posting photos straight through social media, allowing more exposure to your event.

TRANSPORTATION
It's often a last minute thought, and typically transportation is only added if funds exist in the budget. Transportation should be one of the first items considered in the event planning process. Who is transporting the bride and groom after the event? Sometimes elderly guests do not plan to stay until the end of the event, and family members end up leaving the event to transport them to the nearest hotel or their home. Who is transporting gifts after the event and the personal decor items? Transportation involves more than the hired limo or party bus for the wedding party and bride and groom. Think through all of the event logistics and consider renting or hiring a driver to transport VIP guests such as the parents, out of town guests, and of course, those partying guests whom you know will be there until the end.

TRAVEL
Let the travel expert take care of your accommodations and travel plans. The last thing a newlywed wants to do the morning after their wedding, should there be an unexpected change in travel plans, is come up with travel plan-b. (Note, it's never a good idea to book a 6 am flight the morning after your wedding, enjoy the next day and depart two days after your wedding, not the day after.) Travel experts will save you an incredible amount of time in research and planning. Also, travel experts have many more connections to secure reservations, help plan excursions, and organize all of your travel details and confirmation numbers for you. Safe the stress of planning it yourself and let the travel agent or travel expert do it for you.
