viBe Goes to Marist College!

We are pleased to announce that two of our community members and viBePages to Stages’ participants Nefertiti Stanton (bottom left) and Julia Jean Louis (bottom right) will be heading to Marist College for its Summer Pre-College Program: Broadway at Marist. This two-week program is geared toward sophomores and juniors in high school, who are interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts. It is a program that is done in collaboration with New York Stage and Film, an incubator house for shows like Hamilton and Hadestown! This summer, Nefertiti and Julia will deepen their understanding of the theater industry by watching new work and connecting with industry professionals, as well as by taking courses in Theatre History, Script Analysis, Movement, Dance, Choral and Private Voice, and Playwriting/Adaptation. They will also:

• Gain a basic technique in all elements of musical theater performance (dancing, singing, acting). 
• Learn the dramatic story arc and how to create engaging entertainment. 
• Build confidence and independence in your own craft.
• Present your opinion and artistic vision clearly. 
• Sharpen your own critical reading and thinking.
• Learn first-hand from a variety of theater professionals who will relate their own experiences and techniques.
• Earn 3 transferable college credits for the Marist course ENG 150-L Introduction to Theater

We are so thrilled to continue building expansive pathways to leadership and careers in the theater industry for our young people through partnerships like this new one with Marist College!

We are all so blessed to know Mimi and call her a sister-friend and colleague! To know Mimi is to know that she is the epitome of creativity, curiosity, and fun! From her poetry to her dance moves, Mimi shines her light always in all ways! Every day, she inspires us to live freely and happily by being ourselves!

We’re wishing all graduating viBe participants the best as they cross the stage and head toward their next chapters! We are so proud of the young people who are graduating this year and have witnessed how they’ve bloomed in their creative pursuits and leadership.

This year's class will be graduating from high schools and graduate-degree programs at universities like Brooklyn High School of the Arts, Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, Midwood High School, and New York University. Some of the amazing schools they will be attending include: St. Francis College, Penn State University, and University of Michigan!

We cannot wait to see what the future holds for the class of 2023!
