Recently, we announced that Mary Gaasch, our Director of Advocacy & Community Relations, is leaving Hammer & NER for a new opportunity. Mary joined Hammer nearly 28 years ago and served in nearly every role in our Program Department, from DSP to Director, before moving into her Advocacy role three years ago.
Many of you have come to know Mary over the years and know what a valuable member of our team she is. What is distinctive about Mary is not only her wisdom about the political and legislative process, but that she is passionate about advocating for people with disabilities and disability justice.
Mary is moving on to be the Executive Director of Crescent Cove, a hospice for children. This is a wonderful opportunity for her to utilize her many skills to lead an organization. We wish Mary every success in this new endeavor.

New Development Team Members
We are excited to welcome David Duxbury and Anna Schmid, two new Development Team members.
David is our full time Major Gifts Officer. He will be meeting with donors, building relationships, sharing our needs, and engaging our major donors to invest in our mission. He is excited about sharing our good work with our donors.
Anna is our Fundraising Specialist and will be working part time focusing on Reach for Ralph for the coming month and will then be taking on projects especially related to our database, focusing on data audits and clean up.
We are looking forward to working with David and Anna!

Former Board Member Receives Award
Earlier this month, longtime NER Board Member, Bob Morse, was recognized by the Vadnais Heights Economic Development Corporation as the recipient of the 2024 Business Leadership Award.
Bob’s 18-year tenure on the Board of Northeast Residence exemplifies a steadfast commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of marginalized communities.
Bob currently serves on Hammer & NER’s development committee, helping connect people and businesses to our mission. Bob is a VP at MidCountry Bank, which has been very supportive of our mission. Congratulations Bob!

Flower Bed Project Brings Spring to Currie Home!
|
Our Currie home started a flower bed along the walkway of the front of the house. This was a team effort and had the residents and staff participating in starting and maintaining our flower garden.
They planted chocolate cherry sunflowers, dahlias, lillies, and more and they've already started to sprout!

Each month in Happenings we feature some of our favorite photos of the people we support "Out & About" having fun in their communities. On the left are some photos from a recent karaoke night held by our Community Life Department.
On the right are photos from the recent DeLaSalle High School Prom! The school's Campus Ministry hosts the prom every year for individuals with developmental disabilities. There was a photo booth, snacks, and a live band, the Posit-Tones, that includes individuals with disabilities. Lots of Hammer & NER individuals attend as well as people from across the metro.
