"Power of the Human Connection"
The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our lives in so many ways. Whether it is a physical, emotional, or social change, we have had to make many adjustments in our lives in order to stay safe and prevent the spread of the virus. Personally, the days seem to blend into one another as I continue to work from home. Running a regional spa association takes a lot of planning, collaborating and research to provide for education and state laws, especially when it comes to staying up to date on government regulations. The challenge of our ever changing infection levels has kept our community on our toes as numbers go up and down by county and our Florida cities continue to revise their guidelines. But what I have found, is just how resilient our spa community is. At a time when we all had to step back, close our doors and quarantine, our spa community flipped social distancing into physical distancing and embraced social connections. As we closed doors our phones and computers lit up. The connections were socially powerful. These past four months, zoom became our way of life, connecting us at home in Florida, throughout the US and globally. Industry leaders united quickly drawing deep into our understanding about what it takes to navigate through the most difficult and perplexing problems, with insights and guidance on how to maintain a steady hand during the crisis, and how to pilot our spas to adapt to a new environment during its transition back to normalcy.

You feel like you are completely ready. Ready and waiting for that call to come back and reopen. Besides, you have been preparing and working with like-minded colleagues in the same situation, through multiple Zoom calls for months. You have everything in line, laser organized, spreadsheets, manuals and SOP’s galore and all you need to do is push the button and you're ready to go!
Then that call comes, “it’s official, we are opening next Thursday”, six days from now! Six emotions. Later, I sit here today with a great sense of accomplishment. Opening up a spa after a pandemic mandated closure, did not come with a rule book. So naturally emotions run high and six emotions later, I realize for the first time in a while, I was truly in tune with what I needed to do, as the clarity after a long reprieve, was palpable.

“I love working in a spa, it’s so relaxing.” Ahh, the glamorous life of a Spa Director! Traveling to other spas to experience their great ideas, products and protocols, big conventions in exotic places and hotels. Maybe pre COVID-19, but not today. My task today was writing another email to my Members explaining why we have to keep our facility closed and what we are doing to inform everyone of yet another positive-testing staff member. After that, it’s back to contact tracing by triangulating video footage, reservation lists and staff schedules. My Spa Reception (I call them my Air-Traffic Controllers), welcoming our members draped in PPE and a winning smile, still occasionally smack the phone receiver into their face shield en-route to their ear, but giggle it off and keep talking to callers on the other end. This is my “New Norm-hell.”

The Ultimate Picture of Human Health
|
|
The ultimate picture of human health is fundamentally a picture of the health of the greater world as a whole. Human beings are a part of nature and therefore cannot be entirely separated from one another. Our bodies are microcosms of the larger earth, essentially we are the same thing in a different form. Subsequently people are nature themselves, and we can take the laws of nature and apply them to the human body in order to understand how it functions and operates. When the laws of nature are applied to human beings, insight is gained on where there are any imbalances and dis-harmonies that need to be addressed. Therefore, human health is directly impacted simply by observing nature and applying the same principles.

UNRAVELED
Many of us are asking ‘What action should I take now?’ But often people equate action with the ‘doing’ or ‘getting’ of things. We are in a period of Deconstruction. The Great Unraveling. Today I am asking you to focus on the Undoing rather than the doing. In other words, stop perpetuating ways of being that are outdated, unpurposeful and inauthentic.
Find the thread that holds the fabric of your unforgiveness, lack of compassion, lack of confidence, apathy and non-committal to love and begin the great unraveling. This is the time of letting go and surrender. Therefore the question is not “What should I do? The question is, ‘What needs to be undone?’
The unravel asks us to be truthful and focused regardless of the discomfort or the unfamiliarity. When we are intentional with the undoing, we don’t have to spiral into the depths of anxiety and fear. After all, what we are letting go of was never really our truth and does not belong to us. What we are unraveling is the heaviness from a burden we can no longer afford to carry. It is the false narratives about ourselves and others that has held us back from our power, success and joy.
This is the moment of the Great Undoing so find the thread and pull...gently but decisively. #undoing

Diversity comes in many forms: gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, age, culture, socioeconomic background, etc. All of these contribute to an individual’s unique experience of the world.
Sometimes we need to take a step back and examine the presence of diversity in our own life. How diverse is your school? Neighborhood? Place of work? Group of friends? Is diversity something we should strive for in all aspects of our lives?
Here are 5 reasons why we at AMP Global:
