Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund

Over $107,000 has been donated to the Club's Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund!  100% of the donations received will be allocated to members of the Sportfishing and Marine Industry who were devastated by Hurricane Harvey.  Applications are being received and reviewed daily by the HHRF Committee.  Currently, $58,000 of the fund has been allocated to over 40 individuals and their families.

 

If you or someone you know would like to apply for financial assistance from the Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund, please complete an application and mail it to HBGFC at 305 21st Street, Suite 241, Galveston, Texas 77550.  Completed applications may also be emailed to recoveryfund@hbgfc.com or faxed to 409-744-2313.

Many of our Texas Sportfishing crews have been severely impacted by Hurricane Harvey and I just want to thank those who have contributed to the Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fund as well as all of those who have been helping out with this effort up and down the coast. We have been able to reach out to a number of people who need assistance but there are still many out there that could use the extra help. Thanks!

The Learning Curve

As the season has come to a close, let's look back at how this season compared to seasons past, as far as the numbers of blue marlin weighed or released in the Annual Club Awards Program and the Lone Star Shootout. So far this season, Houston Big Game Fishing Club boats have turned in 49 blue marlin weighed or released in Texas. Last year, that number was 53; and 62 in 2015. From there, there is a substantial drop off to 35 blues in 2014, 34 in 2013, and 37 in 2012. Is the good fishing a sign of a long-term trend or just a string of good seasons?
