The Learning Curve

Last April Galati Yacht Sales hosted an Emergency Life Saver Marine class taught by D-Dey Response Group. The response from those who attended was so positive that we have arranged to bring the D-Dey Response Group to Texas for four separate one day courses.  

The courses will be held:
March 15, 16 - HBGFC Office, Galveston
March 17, 18 - Surfside Marina

The informative and potentially life saving topics covered will include:
  • CPR/AED
  • Airway Management
  • Bleeding Control
  • Allergic Reactions
  • Prescription Medications
  • Wound Management/Closure and Splinting

In addition, club members taking the course will receive a 10% discount off any medical kit purchased from D-Dey!
 
The cost for the class is $300/per person and classes are capped at 15 each day to maximize participation.  If you have interest in enrolling, please contact the club at 409-744-2307/info@hbgfc.com. If you have any questions about the class and its usefulness, feel free to ask Captains Kevin Deerman, Ryan Doxey, Jeff Erwin, Jeff Wilson, or me. The class was well worth the time and cost.

Captain's Corner

J anuary has been an extremely slow month for receiving fishing reports on the Gulf Coast. The freezing weather and the back to back fronts have kept most of us inside playing with tackle or watching people catching them up in warmer locations on social media. There were a handful of boats that made it out to the usual Wahoo spots near the first of the year but most of them reported the bite was hit and miss on the hoos with 2 to 4 fish each trip. The crew on Paparda Rey were able to get out on the same weekend and treated their customers to some great action with 12 Wahoo and a full box of Grouper and Tilefish. There weren't any monsters caught so far but I'm sure that will change as soon as we get some decent weather. Good luck to everyone! Let's get some Wahoo on the leader boards!
