Thank You for Your Support!

Our Sip and Shop Fundraising event was such a fun, festive way to kick off sunny days and warm weather! Friends of Senior Community Connections picked up beautiful pieces to wear for graduation parties and other Spring and Summer events. We are grateful for the tremendous support and participation in this event, hosted by J.McLaughlin in Davidson.

SCC will receive a portion of the proceeds from this lovely shopping event.

Our May Ice Cream Social at Whit's was such a treat! We gathered together to chat and enjoy a little something to cool down with! May was Older Americans Month. We love serving this precious population is often faced with isolation and loneliness. SCC events like this one aims to combat these challenges through social opportunities like this one.

We love our seniors!

SENIOR LIVING

Tips to Enhance Social Connection

  1. Volunteer: This can provide a mood-boost, help with cognitive function, gives a mission, and allows us to engage with activities we enjoy alongside other people
  2. Utilize technology when needed: phone, Zoom, Facetime, or other video chats help us stay connected when our good friends or loved ones are further away
  3. Exercise together: Consider joining or creating a walking group, playing pickleball, or working out with a friend.
  4. Take the Lead: Introduce yourself to a SCC member or a neighbor- sometimes you just need to be the one to initiate a conversation to make a new friend. Don't forget to ask for a way to stay in touch, like a phone number!
