SCC celebrated our birthday at the end of October. We want to thank our volunteers, supporters, and volunteers for caring about and carrying out our mission to help seniors age on their own terms. Thank you for all of the ways you have helped provide services, social connectedness, and community for older adults in the Lake Norman area.

Upcoming Events

First Friday Lunch at The Egg- Nov. 3 - Friday, Nov. 3 at 10:30am 231 Griffith St. Davidson, NC beside Our Town Cinama. Plenty of parking. If you have never been to one of our breakfasts, we encourage you to come and sit a' spell with us and share some gossip and jokes and whatever else interest you. We know a lot at this mature age and we love to share it! RSVP by Oct 31 by calling 980-689-1843 or email us at Please let us know if you need a ride.

Members "Souper" Suppers- You are invited to one of our "Souper" Suppers on Thursday, November 9th or Thursday November 30th from 5-7pm. Our hostesses will provide the soup and beverages. You may bring an appetizer, salad, bread/rolls, or a dessert. You can make or simply purchase ready from store!

First Date is Nov. 9- Please call Natalie at 704-997-5169 by Sunday, Nov 5 and let her know what you want to bring. Space is limited so let Natalie know as soon as possible. More information will be provided upon calling.

Second date is Nov. 30- Please call Sue at 704-307-8339 by November 27 and let her know what you plan to bring. Space is limited to 6 guests and more information will be given once you make your reservation with Sue.

For volunteer drivers- you are invited to stay for supper if you bring one of the volunteers, and please don't bring anything for dinner! (Thanks for your service!)

Wise Aging Meditation Circle-

Connect to a supportive community that shares real talk about aging; the challenges, the joys, and finding meaning on the journey.

With guidance from an experienced educator and aging specialist, Laurie Walker, you will receive tools and practical suggestions for navigating your aging journey: through mindfulness practices, meditations, and activities that lead you to a better understanding of how to age well.

The group is free and open to all. We meet on Zoom Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. Register HERE or send an email to

Holiday Season Rest and Renewal-

Restore, Renew, and Connect during the, sometimes overwhelming, Holiday season in a special three-session year-end gathering that includes relaxation techniques, mindfulness, contemplative practices, and spirit sharing.

We meet on Zoom Thursdays November 30th, December 7th and 14th at 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.

Music at St. Alban's- On Sunday, November 19th at 3pm, Music at St. Alban's (M@SA) will present The Queens Chamber Players. Pianist Paul Nitsch brings his ensemble to perform Schubert's glorious "Trout" quintet, with violin, viola, cello, bass, and piano.

Dr. Paul Nitssch is the Carolyn G. McMahon Professor of Music and the Macavity Artist-in Residence of the Queens University of Charlotte. He teaches piano, and is concertizing performer. Join us for what will certainly prove to be a delightful concern experience.

The concert will be preceded by a young artists' performance at 2:20pm, featuring the flute students of Shirley Gilpin. The concert will be availabe for live streaming. For information about that option and tickets, visit M@SA's website:

Figgy Goat Cheese Appetizer


8 oz goat cheese log

3 oz of roughly chopped pistachios

4 tbsp of fig jam

2 tbsp of honey


  1. Roll the goat cheese log in the chopped pistachios until covered
  2. Place the log on a serving board and spread the fig jam
  3. Top with honey
  4. Lay out your favorite crackers, apples, and figs to serve
