CHOC Honored with Recovery & Resiliency Award During Inspiring Ceremony

Martha's Community Farm, nestled in the idyllic suburb of Audubon, PA, radiates a spirit of compassion and resilience. On a gorgeous day in May, the farm’s lush fields played host to the 10th Annual Montgomery County CSP Conference and 45th Annual Montgomery Mental Health Awards Reception. RHD’s Coordinated Homeless Outreach Center (CHOC) was one of the area’s organizations honored with a Recovery & Resiliency Award.

Summerfest is Back!

Join us for the second annual Summerfest on Saturday, July 22nd, at the Christian Stronghold Baptist Church parking lot in Philadelphia. Presented by RHD's United Peers, Summerfest offers carnival-style fun, including a dunk tank and caricature artist. Come together, have a great time, and support United Peers' mission to enrich the lives of those with mental health/co-occurring disorders. Entry to the event is free and it runs from 12-4. (Children welcome from 2-4 pm). To register, call or text DiAndra Thompson at 215-713-7123.

RHD in the News

New Orleans Mobile Crisis Intervention Unit (MCIU)

Fox 8 and WWL-TV in New Orleans recently profiled RHD’s brand new Mobile Crisis Intervention Unit (MCIU) – now available to New Orleans residents experiencing a behavioral health crisis. To see this concept to fruition, RHD partnered with the City of New Orleans Health Department and launched the MCIU on June 1st. The new program directly integrates with the New Orleans 9-1-1 system to dispatch mental health professionals to acute, non-violent mental health crises. Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Since its launch on June 1st, the MCIU has already received over 200 calls. Check out the news stories here and here.

Center for Creative Works (CCW)

Philadelphia’s CBS 3 News recently featured CCW’s Arty Party held on June 10th at the Kensington location at 1800 N. American Street. The news segment showcased interviews with CCW director, Lori Bartol, and artist, Wendy Moreno. The Arty Party highlighted a new exhibition, artwork available for purchase, live DJ performances, and more! CCW is dedicated to promoting arts and fostering skill-building, education, vocational opportunities, and community engagement for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
