Due to FMEC bylaws, the member-at-large should be someone who will serve on the Host Committee for the 2025 Annual Meeting, to be held in Cleveland, OH, so candidates from Ohio or with Ohio connections are prioritized. FMEC Innovators Network Highlight
Each state needs to have a clear and correct assessment of their primary care workforce. Hanna Maxey, PhD and her team at Indiana University developed a method that is best of class in the nation. This is a model of how to collect and report the data efficiently and effectively. Watch Dr. Maxey’s Innovators Network presentation, A Statewide Health Workforce Database, on the FMEC’s YouTube channel. Since 2008, the FMEC has hosted the Healthcare Innovators Network during its Annual Meeting, where industry leaders present cutting-edge practices and more. To learn more about the cutting edge in primary care, come to the FMEC Innovators Network meeting on September 19, 2024 in Philadelphia!

PCPs are Highly Trusted in new Edelman Report
For the third year, global communications firm Edelman has surveyed thousands from across the globe to understand how they view healthcare and what threatens health outcomes, and the results are fascinating. From the Trust and Health in the US Report, primary care providers continue to be well-respected, with 56% of respondents saying their opinions on health policies are influenced by their PCP, compared to only 35% by scientists and health experts. PCPs scored higher in terms of trust to be truthful than pharmacists, friends and family, corporate leaders, government, and the media. Half or more of respondents do not embrace AI innovations in patient interaction, drug development, and diagnosis. Politics is more feared than pandemics, with 60% of U.S. respondents worrying about the politicization of medical science, 52% about affordability, and 45% about another pandemic. And 1 in 3 US respondents regret making health decisions based on misinformation. Read more in the Edelman Trust Barometer Special Report: Trust and Health.
