Calvary's Group Tour to Oberammergau's Passion Play 2022
|
|
In partnership with Country Travel Discoveries of Elm Grove, Pastor Ken will host a tour to Germany and Austria, to include the famous Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany, from September 17-27, 2022.
What is Oberammergau? Nearly 400 years ago, the villagers of the tiny Bavarian village promised God to perform a play about the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ, if God would save the village from the plague. The petition was divinely answered, and since then the villagers have staged the Passion Play every 10 years. The 2022 performances will mark the 42nd time the elaborate play will be performed, now seen by thousands of the faithful from the world over.
Join us on Sunday, June 27th following worship when you can learn more about this spectacular tour. In the meantime, brochures with detailed itineraries and costs can be found in the Narthex. Space is limited.

The Canticle of the Sun, also known as Laudes Creaturarum (Praise of the Creatures) and Canticle of the Creatures, is a religious song composed by Saint Francis of Assisi. It was written in an Umbrian dialect of Italian but has since been translated into many languages. It is believed to be among the first works of literature, if not the first, written in the Italian language. The setting we will sing on Sunday is written by Marty Haugen.

June Mission of the Month -
|
|
June Mission of the Month:
Global Workers/World Mission Prayer League (WMPL)
The World Mission Prayer League is an official ministry partner of the NALC. WMPL grew out of a God-given burden to pray for the unreached interiors of Africa, Asia, and Latin America in the 1930’s. A band of students, pastors and friends in the Minneapolis area joined together in prayer that the Lord of the harvest would send laborers into his harvest.
They founded the South American Mission Prayer League in Minneapolis on May 25, 1937, committed to providing a way for lay participation in mission and to complement the regular work of the Lutheran synods, without diverting means or personnel from their programs.
WMPL says of itself…we are committed to pray, as Jesus commands his followers in Matthew 9:38 – “Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” We are a… community of men and women who are committed to prayer - the “working method” of our mission.
The World Mission Prayer League exists to see that populations with limited or no access to the Gospel experience the love of Christ and that believers and communities of believers in the Americas and elsewhere engage in active and collaborative participation in living out their roles in the great commission.
This month, we are supporting missionaries from WMPL who will be our guests at Calvary in worship on the weekend of June 19-20. The Nelsons met our missionaries in 1995 while studying at Luther Seminary.
Our Mission of the Month offerings will:
1. Directly support their work through World Mission Prayer League;
2. Support a “Ministry Fund” - used to equip students of the Seminary – where in addition to theological education students visit congregations near the seminary leading and preaching Sunday Worship services as well help in an after school program for children in its neighborhood and;
3. Be earmarked for the future development of a Boarding School of Northern India – envisioned as a place for primary education in a Christian environment.
We hope you will learn more about WMPL – their website is www.wmpl.org, and generously support the mission work Calvary does in India through this wonderful Lutheran ministry.
To support this important Mission of the Month, you may include it in your weekly offering envelope or designate the donation as "Mission of the Month" in your online giving.

The right side of the Sanctuary (as you face the altar) is equipped with a hearing loop system which transmits an audio signal directly into a hearing aid via a magnetic field. This greatly reduces background noise, competing sounds, reverberation and other acoustic distortions that reduce clarity of sound.
Most hearing aids are equipped with a t-coil and connecting to this system is an easy switch on the hearing aid. If you need assistance during worship with this system, please reach out to an usher or any staff member.
