Teach Truth Days of Action

Photos and Stories

June-2022-Teach-Truth-Recap-1017x534 image

Teachers and allies across the country pledged to #TeachTruth on June 11 and 12, 2022.

They made their pledges at historic sites to provide examples of the history that teachers are required to lie about or omit where the GOP anti-history bills become law.

Many of the events involved walking tours, and even one by kayak, to historic sites. Check out a few sites below and many more online.

We are delighted that Michelle Coles donated 52 copies of her book about Reconstruction, Black Was the Inkfor young people in support of our Teach Truth campaign. Coles and illustrator Justin Johnson signed the copies.

We offer these to educators in appreciation for teaching stories about any of the Teach Reconstruction lessons and/or using the Reconstruction report as a text in a high school or teacher education class.

Reconstruction is one of the topics threatened by the “anti-CRT” bills, as Jesse Hagopian noted in GOP Lawmakers Are Trying to Prevent Students from Learning About Reconstruction.
