Timmi’s situation was one of desperation and that's when she found help. “I was homeless; I was tired; I was looking for a way out,” she shared. “I was in the shelter system, and they referred me to RHD.” She learned about RHD’s Family House NOW (New Options for Women) in West Philadelphia. Timmi and her youngest child went to Family House NOW, and that decision changed her life.

Congratulations to Tom Hornof, a host provider for RHD St. Louis Residential, who recently received an award and cash prize for his outstanding work as a DSP (Direct Support Professional). RHD St. Louis Residential is a program that falls under RHD's Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) division, offering various living service models to help individuals with disabilities live their best lives. The award was presented to Tom by the St. Louis Area Gateway Coalition on April 19. This coalition consists of service providers who are dedicated to promoting positive outcomes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through advocacy, education, and collaboration. St. Louis programs were able to nominate one person for an award, and for RHD St. Louis Residential, Tom was a natural choice. He exemplifies the values and mission of RHD by providing exceptional care and support to RHD participant, Brandon, through the Shared Living Host model. In the vibrant city of New Orleans, a groundbreaking initiative is reshaping the way RHD responds to mental health crises. Beginning on June 1, 2023, the New Orleans Mobile Crisis Intervention Unit revolutionizes emergency care by connecting individuals in distress with specialized crisis teams through a simple call to 911. This transformative program prioritizes mental well-being and community care.
