Greetings,

I would like to announce my candidacy for the “at large” position on the US Adult Soccer National Board

of Directors. I am a former member of the USASA National Board of Directors in this capacity and believe

my experience, work ethic and passion for sport make me an ideal fit for the position. I am a former

deputy director of Region III, former secretary of SC Amateur Soccer Association, current Registrar and

Vice President of The Charleston Masters League and an active soccer player (not that active... but I try).

I am also the Chair of the USSF Membership Advisory Council and Chair of the USASA Rules

Committee.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Charleston School of Law and am barred in South Carolina and

the District of Columbia. In my years as an attorney, I have advocated for clients with a good bit of

success. I am a former prosecutor, having served in South Carolina’s 14 th Judicial Circuit for nearly five

years. I have trial experience in criminal court, civil courts and in the court of equity. Currently I am a

corporate attorney, I review contracts, advise on the legalities of corporate actions, relationships, and tax

strategies. While serving on the USASA NBOD I worked with the board reviewing and advising on

contracts and governance questions.

As a member of the USSF Governance Task force our team fended off a movement to minimize USASA

within the federation. We were able to bridge some longtime rifts with the youth organizations to stand

strong as a grassroot coalition. But what really made the effort successful was the bridges that were built

between the athlete council and pro council. Together we forged a path forward that included the adult

council as a partner rather than a pariah.

The USSF Membership Advisory Committee has opened a dialogue between the councils for the greater

good. Together we have bridged the gap and identified areas where we can work together. We have also

opened communication channels to the USSF NBOD and Staff so members can more effectively

communicate with the federation.

We need to act like a modern association and provide a value proposition that is more in line with the

needs of today’s soccer community. This work has already started, and I believe I have been a big part of

that process. For example, while on the NBOD, I spearheaded the registration system search committee.

Though we found a partner, this project is not complete. We still need to focus on implementation, set up,

and ease of use. As a “beta user” of this program, as registrar of the Charleston Masters League, I have a unique perspective on the areas of opportunity within the program, training paradigm and launch. Getting this right is imperative, if this system is successful USASA State Associations have another arrow in their quiver to grow membership. A free, or low-cost registration option is a long overdue our members

deserve. There is still a lot of work to do though, it is my opinion that the USASA NBOD should focus on

additional member benefits, things that will make “selling” sanctioned membership an easier proposition.

We have been trying to grow with Cups and Insurance for too long, it’s time to expand our offerings.

As the World Cup approaches it is critical that we foster these relationships with the other councils and

the federation. We all want to help, and I believe your commissioners should be proactive with the

federation to engage the adult membership to help make 2026 the best tournament in history. This work

has already started, but there is a lot to do. With your vote I pledge to work tirelessly to on your behalf.

USASA needs to be at the forefront, capitalizing on the World Cup to recruit member leagues and

players.

Over the next couple weeks, I will be reaching out to our members – to discuss my candidacy. To get your take on USASA and how we can better serve you. I ask for your time and promise in return to listen.

I look forward to speaking with you individually.

Sincerely,

Chaz Ballish Regueiro
