It is with great sadness that the Charles County Arts Alliance announces the passing of Robert Rausch. Robert has been serving as our Executive Director, over the past months. In 1987, when the Charles County Arts Council was going to be disbanded, Robert and his wife, Diane, founded the Charles County Arts Alliance as a membership organization, because they felt it was important that the community should be involved. The CCAA would be an umbrella organization to support all other arts organizations. He served as the first President of the CCAA and has shepherded the organization for 37 years. During this time, the CCAA has provided over one million dollars in grant funding to support county arts organizations. Robert’s absence will be greatly felt by both the organization and the community. | |

The Southern Maryland Bluegrass at the Elks series welcomes David Peterson & 1946 on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the Calvert Elks Lodge #2620 in Prince Frederick, MD. The doors open at Noon with the performance starting at 2:00 PM.
David Peterson & 1946 exhibits Bluegrass in a straightforward manner. They’re Bluegrass with a capital B and they entertain without the need of technological gizmos. Simply put, it’s “Hardcore

John Barth – Metafiction Master
"Everyone is necessarily the hero of his own life story." – John Barth
John “Jack” Barth, born in Cambridge, Maryland, on May 27, 1930, was famous in the 1960s as a writer who challenged standard conventions of language and plot. It was in the '60s that he wrote his most well-known books; The Sot-Weed Factor, a whimsical retelling of Maryland's colonial history; Giles Goat-Boy, a best-selling satirical fantasy in which a university is a microcosm of the Cold War world and the hero is a character who is part goat; and Lost in the Funhouse, an experimental collection of short stories.

About the Charles County Arts Alliance, Inc.
The mission of the Charles County Arts Alliance (CCAA) is to stimulate, promote, encourage, and provide recognition of the arts and the creative spirit. Founded in 1987, the CCAA promotes ALL the arts in Charles County: music, visual art, drama, dance and literature.
The CCAA is the official arts council of Charles County and is recognized as such by the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC), an agency of the Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) of the State of Maryland. In this capacity, the CCAA serves as the "umbrella" organization for the arts community in Charles County. The CCAA promotes Charles County arts organizations and individuals, provides financial support to nonprofit organizations and the schools through its annual arts grant programs, sponsors the creation and presentation of new, diverse cultural activities and special events for the community, provides arts scholarships, and ensures the Charles County's under-served population, people with disabilities, residents with limited income, minorities, and senior citizens have access to the arts. The CCAA builds partnerships with local government, the business community and the educational community, in an effort to enhance the overall quality of life for the citizens of Charles County.
