Apologies to Future Generations
Dr. Christina Jarvis dedicated Earth Day 2023 to the Charles Bruce Foundation, holding four separate events over the course of that weekend. Beginning Friday afternoon, she spoke to two assemblies for the students of Carlisle High School about Kurt Vonnegut's environmental activism. Continuing this theme on Saturday morning, she spoke before a group at the Bosler Memorial Library before moving to Whistlestop Bookshop to sign copies of her new book, Lucky Mud & Other Foma: A Field Guide to Kurt Vonnegut's Environmentalism and Planetary Citizenship. She finished the day with a trip to the Harrisburg Earth Day Fest, speaking before a group of enthusiastic and dedicated young-adult activists. If you had the misfortune of missing these events, you can still learn all about Kurt Vonnegut's positions on the environment by visiting your local bookshop and purchasing a copy of Christina's book. You can also get a copy shipped directly from the publisher by using the link provided below.

Even better, you can join Dr. Jarvis as she helps the Pat LaMarche Book Club discuss Kurt's environmentally dystopian novel Galapagos by joining the Pat LaMarche Book Club Facebook group. Use the Book Club link below to be informed of future details.
A Match Made in Heaven
Our apologies for keeping you all on the edge of your seats for so long after teasing the April 19 results of the Partnership for Better Health Match Madness campaign for 2023 in our last newsletter. Board members Pat LaMarche and Max Goller were personally on hand at the announcement ceremony held at The Vault in downtown Carlisle. Without even further delays, if you didn't pick up on the results from the graphic, Charles Bruce Foundation not only made the established goal of $5,000, but exceeded it at $7842.70. We thank each of you who value what we do enough to help us with this campaign.

Mural Victories
Mural art represents a moral victory for the community by enhancing personal morale. The Charles Bruce Foundation has funded many murals throughout the Carlisle area, and here we have Chad Bruce himself adding to the art of the community with his tribute to Rick Griffin's Artist at Large. It is his personal way of honoring the talented artists who have inspired him throughout his lifetime.

Are you an artist looking to beautify your community? Or maybe you are part of a community outside of the Carlisle area with a bare wall that you are interested in dressing up? We want to help! Learn more about our downtown art projects by visiting our website using the link below.
