OLD BARNWELL, May 6, 2024

The Inaugural Charity Golf Tournament was a huge success; everyone had a fantastic time. The short burst of rain did not dampen anyone's competitive spirit; it just cooled the atmosphere enough to provide the golfers with ideal weather to walk 18 holes.

The Aiken Horse Park Foundation is truly fortunate to have the support and enthusiasm of many who traveled near and far to participate in this year's fundraiser. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Gordon and Lauren Lawson for their exceptional efforts in organizing the event and to Nick Schreiber and his team at Old Barnwell for their warm hospitality.

Seventy-two golfers started the day on the course in a shotgun start and arrived back at the Pro Shop about four hours later to be greeted by a hearty lunch and an awards presentation.

This year's winning team, which included Patrick Turner, Stephen M Schuster, Jacob Karamol, and our very own Board Chair John Stephens, posted a score of -21. Matt Mills, TJ Washburn, Johnny Dubbs, and Nick Cullen were runners-up after posting -19.

The Longest Drive Award went to Todd Wilkinson, and Closest To The Pin went to Bill Shea.

Between the Golf Tournament and the well-received Silent Auction, which featured exclusive golfing destination packages, we estimate that the Foundation will realize just about $70,000 from the proceeds.
