CHARGER CHATTER

April 22, 2024

Morning Drop Off

All students arriving by car are expected to come through the car line via David Road, dropped off at the school doors in the back parking lot, and exit the Ackerman Blvd drive. Students should not be dropped off south of the Ackerman driveway or in front of school. This is not only dangerous but impedes visibility from the school exits, traffic and the ability for buses to drop off students. We have received complaints from our neighbors about cars parking in front of driveways, parking in private driveways, and parking on the lawns adjacent to sidewalks of homeowners.

Preschool parents should not be parking on the southbound lane of Ackerman and crossing the median to drop off their child. Preschool parents should park in the lot between school and church.

All pedestrians should be using the crosswalks when crossing the street.

Thank you for keeping everyone safe and being respectful of private property owners.

Earth Day at STC!

Cleaning up our Garden's

The results from the state science fair were published this evening by the Ohio Academy of Science. There were 582 projects competing in the state fair. 329 projects received a rank of Superior. Dorothy Back, Natalie Bigelow, and Daniel Ennis earned a Superior and will be invited to OSU for the Celebration of Science. Micaela Conard, Audrey Lipp, Max McCall, Chizor Ugwummadu, and Sam White earned an Excellent. These students all worked very hard and put in the extra effort to get to Districts and States. I am proud of their work and look forward to next year's projects.

Spring Health Challenge

Spring Health Challenge - Week 4

As part of our school wide Spring Health Challenge, we want to introduce our fourth challenge. This week we would like for our staff, students and families to focus on Choosing Water for Healthy Hydration. Did you know that WATER is a great drink choice for everyone! Why?

  • It is super healthy (0 calories and no added sugar)
  • It is good for the body (helps keep joints healthy and improves your physical endurance, it is good for skin and teeth, aids in digestion, helps with increased energy, and helps with blood circulation)
  • It is also good for the mind (staying hydrated helps with concentration and focus)

How much water do you need? The 8 x 8 Rule is an easy way to remember how much daily water you need. On average, most people need eight - 8 ounces of water per day. That's approximately 2 liters or 64 ounces of water per day.  Some people will need more or less depending on age, health condition(s), physical activity and the temperature which all play a role in how much water you may need. Your student will receive a Water Tracker to see how well they can track their water intake this week.  Parents - feel free to accept this challenge with your child. We have attached the Water Tracker for anyone to use.

On a final note.... we hope that you have been able to establish a routine for prayer/meditation, exercise and cleaning or decluttering from our previous weeks. Keep up the healthy habits!

Negative Lunch Accounts

Starting Friday, April 26th you will need to have money on your lunch account to purchase items in the cafe.

You can check your student's balance online by following the directions below. You can also add money to your lunch account online.

We use PaySchools Central, an online payment platform, to help make managing lunch and fee payments easier for our students’ parents. The portal is easy to set up and use, both online and via the mobile app. To get started, follow the instructions below.

  1. Visit PaySchool Central at www.payschoolscentral.com
  2. Select the “Register” option from the menu. The portal will guide you through the steps to set up your account.
  3. You will be prompted to enter your contact information and a payment method to activate your account.
  4. Once all information is entered, you will receive an email from PaySchools Central with a link to confirm the registration and create your password. Once your password is saved, you can log in and begin using PaySchools Central as often as you’d like.
  5. The first time you log in, you will need to indicate which student(s) to attach to your account using the Add/View student tab. Students are already loaded in the PaySchools Central system. PaySchools Central utilizes the same student ID number used for your lunch purchases. If you are unsure of your student’s ID number, please contact the school/district registrar.
  6. When registering for a PaySchools account, ALL school locations will select "St. Albert the Great-Dayton" as your district.
  7. If you need your students PIN number please contact your child's homeroom teacher or Maggie Collins.
