Watch for future newsletters alerting you to the mailing of the "blue" assessment notices. We have been informed that they should be in the mail in the early part of August.

The Governor signed a new law (Public Act 103-0596) that has made structural changes to the Standard Homestead Exemption for Veterans with Disabilities (SHEVD). It primarily impacts the limitations as follows:

• Change the SHEVD beginning with 2023 (payable 2024) so that the $250,000 EAV cap on eligibility is changed to a $250,000 maximum exemption.

• Change the SHEVD beginning with 2023 (payable 2024) to remove the requirement of an honorable discharge

• Add veterans of WWII to the eligibility list (irrespective of disability status) beginning with 2024 (payable 2025).
