Make 'Em Laugh-

28 Great Years at The Crest

Featuring MGM's 1952 Musical-

Singin' In The Rain

Dear Friends,

As you may have heard by now, my company, CSLM Incorporated-operators of the Crest Theatre for the past 28 years-has lost its lease on the Crest Theatre. It is with great sadness that we make our departure but not without celebrating our accomplishments! On Friday, October 17th at 7:30 p.m. we will screen MGM's 1952 musical "Singin' In The Rain" the film we presented in 1986 when we re-opened the darkened Crest and brought her back to the hearts and minds of Sacramento. We have secured a 35mm archive print from the Warner Bros. vault to bring you this delightful musical, as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen!

As we reflect on our 28 years here, we have many fond memories. Cab Calloway, Nirvana, Joan Rivers, Guns and Roses, Sam Kinison, Robin Willams, Cyndi Lauper, No Doubt, Sun Ra, Merle Haggard, Dorothy Lamour, Charlton Heston, Clint Eastwood, Bernadette Peters, Donald O'Connor, Dave Brubeck, Ray Davies, Tippi Hedren, Etta James, Garrison Keillor, Huell Howser, Ken Burns, Kris Kristofferson, Terry Gross, Ira Glass, Al Franken, David Sedaris, Michael Moore, Bruce Campbell,  Rita Moreno, Debbie Reynolds and, even the notorious Sonny Barger and Ron Jeremy (but not at the same time) have all graced our stage during our tenure.  Of course, this is but a small list of the thousands of talented musicians, film makers, authors and comedians who have called the Crest home for an evening or two.

We are proud of the many film festivals that have made the Crest their home-Tower Of Youth All Youth Film and Education Festival, A Place Called Sacramento, Sacramento Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, Sacramento Jewish Film Festival, Wild and Scenic Film Festival, Sacramento French Film Festival, Sacramento Japanese Film Festival, Trash Film Orgy and the Sacramento Film and Music Festival not to mention the countless children who were introduced to live theatre, the new citizens who were sworn in at the Crest and the many local cultural organizations who shared their talents and their heritages with Sacramento audiences.

We want to take a moment to thank our current staff and the hundreds of past members of the Crest Team who have become our extended family. And, we want to say thanks to you, our supporters and patrons, who have laughed, cried, sang and danced with us over the decades.

Let's get together, tap our toes and celebrate one last time!

With warm regards,

Sid Heberger
