NEXT EXECS' SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE

As we approach the end of the 2022 school year, we here at the NextExecs are already planning for 2023. Join us in our 2nd Annual Backpack & School Supply Drive to benefit MCPS students, grade K-12. From now through August 11th, we are calling on all our GBCC members and community partners to help ensure our students are prepared for a successful school term when they return in the Fall. Some of our members last year held their own internal school supply drive and had the items delivered to our GBCC office in downtown Bethesda. Others supported the drive financially by donating money via our Chamber’s Venmo account or by sending a check payable to Greater Bethesda Chamber of Commerce. Please enter #mcpsbackpackdrive23 in the memo line. All levels of support are greatly appreciated, and we will also be calling on volunteers to fill the backpacks and make the drop offs to area schools. Last year we filled over 300 backpacks and this year our goal is to fill at least 500, can we count you to help us reach that goal?

Click the button or contact the GBCC staff at

staff@greaterbethesdachamber.org for the full school supply list.

Minimum suggested donation amount of $20.00 is requested. Click here to donate via Venmo | Greater Bethesda Chamber

COUNTY COUNCIL

GBCC staff attended the County Council session on May 25 to observe the FY24 Operating Budget vote. We appreciate the work of all our Council members, particularly those whose jurisdictions are within our footprint, Council Vice President Andrew Friedson, District 1 and Councilmember Kate Stewart, District 4.

MEMBERSHIP WALK-AROUND

The GBCC Membership Networking Committee led a productive Membership Walk-Around in Park Potomac on May 24th. We said hello to our members in the area, met lots of future members, and thanked all for choosing to do business in our community.

NEXT EXECS

Thank you to Nesfield Performance for hosting a fantastic GBCC NextExecs meeting and happy hour! We all enjoyed socializing and learning more about how to move mindfully.

The Pew Research Center reports that workers ages 65 and older are more positive about their jobs than younger workers. Two-thirds say they are extremely or very satisfied overall “compared with 55% of those 50 to 64, 51% of those 30 to 49, and 44% of those 18 to 29.” Older workers are also the most likely to say they are extremely or very satisfied with their relationship with their manager or supervisor, day-to-day tasks, and opportunities for promotion.
