Donna Visits Connections for Children

Children play a significant role in each of our lives and in our communities. Yesterday I had the pleasure of touring Connections for Children, a non-profit Childcare Resource and Referral agency serving parents, childcare providers, and educators.


For nearly 50 years, Connections for Children has increased the quality of childcare by influencing public policy, providing referral services for families, and offering professional development to early childhood educators. They assist over 3,500 families each year to find quality childcare regardless of income. Read More...

Voice your viewpoint on Metro's C-line Extension

The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce supports Metro's C-line extension by advocating for the Right of Way (ROW) with Elevated/At-Grade option. Mark Dierking, Community Relations Manager and Georgia Sheridan, Senior Planning Director for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority have provided several presentations and updates to the chamber's Government Affairs Policy committee. The chamber invites you to voice your viewpoint on the C-line alignment preference by providing comments at an in-person meeting or live public comment on the phone. There are several options which can be found in the link below.

23rd Annual Black History Celebration Recognizes Resilience

The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce has been presenting the Black History Celebration for over two decades, honoring the contributions of the many African Americans who space our nation’s past, present, and future.


Latrice McGlothin, Executive Director for Kinecta Community Foundation and master of ceremonies stated “The evening was an engaging and encouraging gathering of people from various professions, schools, backgrounds, families, and civil service members, meeting together to inspire and be inspired through stories of resilience. We don’t often hear of the heroic, heart-driven, courageous and brilliance of community leaders and students of color in the news.” Read More...

City of Torrance 2024 Torrance Climate Smart Awards

The City of Torrance 2024 Torrance Climate Smart Awards are being implemented in support of the Stewardship of the Environment Priority within the City’s Strategic Plan. This program aims to honor individuals, businesses, and organizations in Torrance that demonstrate exemplary commitment to environmental stewardship. The awards are categorized into Climate Smart Energy, Climate Smart Water, Climate Smart Youth, Climate Smart Community, and Climate Smart Business, highlighting achievements in clean energy, water conservation, youth leadership, community support, and sustainable business practices.

City of Torrance launches "Pitch Torrance"

The City of Torrance is launching “Pitch Torrance” on Tuesday, March 19th, 2-5 p.m. at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center – Toyota Meeting Hall.

 

If you are an existing business interested in learning how to become a potential vendor for the City of Torrance and want to meet face to face with decision makers who buy products and services, then you won’t want to miss the City’s inaugural Pitch Torrance event!

 

Plan to come to speak to Team Torrance to “pitch” your business as a potential vendor.
