Chamber Of Commerce Dates To Remember

BSCC Will Be Closed The Month Of August

Borrego Days Desert Festival

October 19 & 20

Parade Theme: HONOR - RESPECT - FREEDOM

"Celebrating Our Local Veterans"

Chamber Certified Farmers Market

Returns November 1, 2024

Executive Director's Notes

By Franҫoise Rhodes

Summer is here and that means the Chamber will be closed the month of August. However, I'll be in and out and answering emails and phone calls.

I'm also happy to meet by appointment as I'm going to try

and take a little time off.

This also means that we'll continue to work on Borrego Days 58, so expect a call or text from Joy McBride our festival volunteer coordinator. Konki Jarvis is handling the parade. My goal from day one when the Jarvis's offered to Chair the parade is to have a hometown parade. It's up the community to make it one. Have fun with it, we don't need grandiose, but something that will put a smile on everyone's face! "Celebrating Our Local Veterans" is the theme, but anything goes, so be creative!

Please click on the application needed or send me and email and I'm happy to reply with an attachment. You can also pick up at the Chamber.

Community Input Questionnaire

At the July 10 San Diego HCDS public meeting in Borrego Springs, County staff invited the community to fill out a "Community Input Questionnaire".

We were told that the more people who filled it out, the better it would be for our community in the hopes that we might be able to access Federal funding for community development, affordable housing and housing assistance.

Thank you,

Daniel Wright, Honorary Mayor

Many of the streets in Borrego Springs are named after the brands

(used on branding irons) of past ranches in the area.

Can you name this street?

Street brands is on hiatus until September

(If there is more than one correct answer we'll draw a winner)

Did You Know?

  • The word "cactus" comes from the Greek word kaktos, which means "plant with spiny thistles". Cacti are also sometimes called "mother-in-law's cushion".

  • The tallest cactus ever recorded was over 78 feet tall and was found near Cave Creek, Arizona in 1986, but was later toppled by the wind.
